Mirror-finish cast-coated paper for retail labels that need maximum gloss and ink density without laminating.
What is cast-coated label paper?
Cast-coated paper is produced by pressing a wet-coated web against a polished, heated chrome drum. The coating dries in contact with that mirror surface and copies its smoothness, giving a gloss level far higher than calendered semi-gloss — typically 75–85 gloss units at 60° — with no varnish or laminate needed.
Because the surface is exceptionally closed, ink sits on top of the sheet: colours look deeper, small type stays sharp and metallic or fluorescent inks keep their brilliance. It is the classic choice for cosmetics, household products and promotional labels printed offset or flexo where a premium paper look is wanted at paper prices.

Frequently asked questions
- Do I still need a varnish over cast-coated paper?
- Not for gloss — the sheet is already high-gloss. Add a varnish or laminate only if the label needs scuff, moisture or chemical protection in transit or on shelf.
- Can cast-coated paper be used on curved bottles?
- Yes, on bottles down to roughly 30 mm diameter. Below that, or on squeezable containers, a conformable film such as PE performs better because paper cracks when it flexes.
- Is it suitable for HP Indigo?
- Only in the primed (Indigo-compatible) version. Ask for the digital grade and we supply the topcoated construction.
