Thermal Eco Label Material
Economy uncoated direct thermal paper for high-volume, short-life shipping and retail labels.
What is thermal eco label paper?
Thermal eco is direct thermal paper without a protective topcoat. It is the lowest-cost thermal grade and prints crisply at high speed, which makes it the default choice for courier labels, pick lists and supermarket scale labels that are read and discarded within weeks.
Because the thermal layer is exposed, images are more vulnerable to abrasion, oils, plasticisers and sunlight than top-coated grades. Under normal indoor handling expect 3–6 months of legibility. Where labels are handled with gloves, rubbed against cartons or stored longer, move to a top-coated or protected grade.

Frequently asked questions
- How much cheaper is eco than top-coated thermal?
- Typically 8–15% per square metre, depending on volume and adhesive. At high label volumes that is the single biggest lever on thermal label cost.
- Will eco thermal survive a delivery journey?
- Yes for normal parcel transit. Avoid it where the label is rubbed continuously, exposed to sunlight in a vehicle for long periods, or contacts oils and solvents.
- Can eco thermal be recycled?
- It is paper-based and BPA-free, and most paper streams accept it. Confirm locally, as thermal coatings are handled differently by region.
