Wine & Spirits
Wine & spirits label materials
Wine labels live in chill cabinets, ice buckets and, increasingly, returnable bottle pools. We supply textured and felt-marked wet-strength papers, metallized and cast-coated stock for foiling, and wash-off adhesives that hold through immersion yet release cleanly in a caustic bottle washer.

What the application demands
The failure modes we design against
- 01
Ice bucket without edge lift
Wet-strength paper keeps its fibre bond under water while a wet-apply acrylic holds the edge flat through hours of immersion and repeated wiping.
- 02
Textured stock that still prints
Felt-marked and laid papers give the tactile cue premium wine needs, with a surface controlled enough for offset, letterpress and fine screens.
- 03
Foiling, embossing and debossing
Cast-coated and metallized grades take hot foil and deep emboss without cracking, so relief work stays crisp at the shoulder of the bottle.
- 04
Returnable glass and bottle pools
Wash-off constructions release the whole label in a standard caustic wash, leaving no fibre or adhesive residue to contaminate the bath.

Testing we run for wine & spirits programmes
- 24-hour ice-bucket immersion with edge-lift assessment
- Caustic wash-off trial at 1.5% NaOH, 80 °C
- Foil and emboss trials on the nominated facestock
- Lot-level COA with coat weight and release value

Frequently asked questions
Which paper survives an ice bucket?
A wet-strength facestock — the fibre bond is chemically reinforced so the sheet does not lose strength when saturated — combined with a wet-apply acrylic that holds the edge flat under water.
Can a label be both durable in use and removable in the washer?
Yes. Alkali-soluble wash-off adhesives stay permanent in ambient and chilled service, then dissolve in a caustic bath at roughly 1.5% NaOH and 80 °C, releasing the label whole.
Do textured papers run on high-speed applicators?
They do, provided the caliper is controlled and the liner is matched. We supply glassine liners tuned for stable dispensing with 90 g textured stock.
Can you supply small runs for craft producers?
Our practical minimum is one pallet of jumbo, but we slit to your reel width and core so a converter can serve several small brands from a single roll.
