Clear BOPP Label Material

Clear BOPP label material is a transparent polypropylene film facestock that creates the premium "no-label look" — the printed graphics appear to sit directly on the container. It is waterproof and tear-resistant, ideal for cosmetics, beverages and glass or clear-plastic packaging.

Quick answer

Clear BOPP label material is a transparent, top-coated biaxially oriented polypropylene film facestock that creates a "no-label look" where only the printed graphics are visible on the container. It is waterproof and tear-resistant, suited to cosmetics, beverage and wine bottles laminated with a clear permanent or wash-off adhesive.

Why choose clear BOPP

  • Transparent "no-label look"

High-clarity film lets the container show through, so only the printed graphics are visible on shelf.

  • Waterproof and tear-resistant

The film absorbs no water and resists tearing through condensation, chilling and filling lines.

  • Premium shelf appeal

Perfect for glass and clear plastic packaging where a paper label would look bulky or opaque.

  • Sharp print with a clear top-coat

The clear top-coat anchors UV flexo, offset, screen and digital inks without hazing the film.

Typical applications

Compare with related materials

Selection depends on container, adhesive, liner, printing method and service environment.

  • Clear BOPP

Best for: No-label-look labels on glass, PET and HDPE packaging

Watch-outs: Adhesive haze, trapped bubbles and edge lift on textured or squeezed packs

    This page
  • White BOPP

Best for: Opaque decoration where the container or fill colour must be hidden

Watch-outs: No transparency; requires full-face print design

    White BOPP
  • Clear PET

Best for: Transparent labels needing higher heat and chemical resistance

Watch-outs: Stiffer, costlier, less conformable on small diameters

    PET film
  • PE film

Best for: Squeeze bottles and tubes requiring a soft conformable face

Watch-outs: Lower clarity and stiffness than BOPP; can distort on fast lines

    PE film
  • Paper label material

Best for: Economical printed labels where a paper look is wanted

Watch-outs: Not transparent; poor resistance to moisture and condensation

    Semi-gloss paper

When this material may not be the best fit

Clear BOPP is not the best fit when the container is deeply squeezed, heavily textured, or exposed to hot fill, steam or long outdoor UV. Film distortion, edge lift and visible adhesive haze become more likely in those conditions.

If the pack must survive higher temperature or chemical contact while staying transparent, clear PET is usually the stronger choice. For soft squeeze bottles, PE film conforms better.

Adhesive & liner options

Clear BOPP is normally laminated to a clear (water-white) permanent acrylic adhesive on PET or glassine liner; removable, freezer and wash-off adhesives are available for reusable or chilled containers.

Still deciding between polypropylene and polyester film? BOPP vs PET for clear film labels by durability, heat and chemical exposure, print method and roll format.

Before requesting a quote

Have these details ready so we can propose a construction instead of a generic price.

  • Container material and surface energy (glass, PET, HDPE, PP)
  • Whether the pack is filled cold, chilled or exposed to condensation
  • Label size, roll width, core size and winding direction
  • Required clarity: adhesive haze tolerance and bubble-free appearance
  • Adhesive requirement: clear permanent, removable, wash-off or freezer
  • Liner requirement for die-cutting and dispensing speed
  • Printing method, white ink coverage and varnish or lamination
  • Application line speed and applicator type
  • Annual volume, first-order volume and sample roll requirement

Request samples, MOQ and lead time

To check availability, sample options and lead time, send us your application, label size, roll width, facestock, adhesive, liner, printing method and estimated order volume. Our team will recommend a suitable construction and confirm whether a sample roll or trial order is available.

Selection depends on container, adhesive, liner, printing method and service environment. We confirm every construction against your own substrate and line conditions before bulk production.

Frequently asked questions

What is clear BOPP label material?

Clear BOPP label material is a transparent, top-coated biaxially oriented polypropylene film laminated to a clear pressure-sensitive adhesive, so only the printed graphics appear on the container. The result is a no-label look with the waterproof, tear-resistant behaviour of film, keeping edges invisible on glass and PET rather than yellowing or lifting.

It is chosen for beverage and water bottles, wine and spirits, cosmetics, and premium household products where the container itself is part of the design. Converters use it for reverse-printed and white-ink builds, and pair it with clear over-laminate or varnish where bottles are handled wet.

Watch adhesive clarity, ice-water and condensation resistance, application temperature and static during die-cutting; a PET liner helps dimensional stability at fine web widths. For returnable or recycled PET bottles, ask about a wash-off adhesive. Edge lift on tightly curved bottles depends on real geometry — confirm with sample testing.

What is clear BOPP label material used for?

The no-label look on cosmetics, beverages and premium bottles, where the container shows through around the printed graphics.

Is clear BOPP fully transparent?

Yes, the film is highly transparent; a clear top-coat and clear adhesive keep the label looking almost invisible on the container.

Is clear BOPP waterproof?

Yes. Like white BOPP it is a waterproof film, so it survives moisture, condensation and chilled bottles.

Which adhesive keeps clear labels invisible?

A clear (water-white) permanent adhesive; for reusable bottles a clear wash-off adhesive is available.

What temperature range can clear BOPP labels withstand?

The clear BOPP film itself stays flexible and clear from roughly -40°C up to normal ambient handling temperatures; the practical service limit depends on the adhesive selected, so specify freezer, chilled or ambient use and we will match a permanent, freezer or wash-off adhesive to your conditions.

Which print methods work on clear BOPP labels?

The clear top-coat accepts UV flexo, offset, screen and digital (UV inkjet, HP Indigo) printing; white ink under-print or a spot-white base is typically used behind graphics so they read clearly against the transparent film. Thermal transfer with a resin ribbon is also possible on request.

What roll widths and MOQ apply to clear BOPP label material?

Clear BOPP is supplied up to 1,600 mm wide on 25 mm (1 in) or 76 mm (3 in) cores, in jumbo, log or finished slit rolls, from a single jumbo roll for stock grades. Request a free sample and datasheet with your target width and adhesive to get a same-day quote.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Stocked grades start from 1 jumbo roll. Custom constructions or coatings typically start from 3,000–5,000 square meters, depending on complexity.

What adhesive and liner options are available?

Permanent, removable, deep-freeze, high-tack or wash-off adhesive (water-based or hot-melt), on white glassine, PET or CCK/kraft liner — matched to your surface and environment.
