What is kraft label paper?
Kraft label paper is made from unbleached (brown) or bleached (white) sulphate pulp. The long, strong fibres give the sheet its characteristic speckled texture and high tear strength. Left uncoated, it reads instantly as natural and recycled — the visual shorthand used by organic food, specialty coffee, soap and candle brands.
Kraft is supplied here as a self-adhesive laminate: kraft facestock, permanent acrylic or hotmelt adhesive and a glassine liner. Print with high-opacity or white-underprint inks; on brown kraft, CMYK alone will shift warm because the substrate is not white.

Frequently asked questions
- Can I print white on brown kraft?
- Yes, with an opaque white flexo or screen station, or a digital press with a white unit. Without white, all colours print translucent over the brown base.
- Is kraft label paper recyclable?
- The facestock is paper and recyclable with the carton stream where the adhesive is compatible. Ask for our recycling-compatible adhesive if the labelled pack goes into a paper recycling loop.
- Does kraft resist moisture?
- Not on its own. For chilled or damp use, specify a wet-strength kraft or a varnish, otherwise the fibre softens and the label edge lifts.
